Becoming Bwgcolman: An Illustrated Journey into Aboriginal Land

Description

The sand-drawing performance *Devenir Bwgcolman* tells the story of an Aboriginal Australian woman from the Stolen Generations, through the eyes of the narrator, Marine.
This text is drawn from a real-life encounter Marine had with this woman in 2005. It is a story linked to Palm Island—off the coast of Queensland—where the woman grew up far from her family in a Christian colonial mission. Through this poetic and visual exploration, the audience is deeply moved by what makes us all human: our wounds, our quests, our need to be understood, and the importance of collective memory.
