This program brings together 20th-century voices united by their faith in light, despite the darkness of their times. At the heart of the program, Francis Poulenc’s cycle *Figure humaine* stands out as a crowning achievement. Based on poems by Paul Éluard, this clandestine cantata gives voice to human solidarity in the face of barbarism. A cry of love, hope, and freedom, it remains one of the spiritual monuments of the 20th century. Echoing this legacy, the Choir commissioned French composer Lise Borel to write a new work on the theme of peace.
